Once again, legal hunters and the hunting community takes blame for illegal poachers actions. The location where this took place is a highly sought after hunting area where only 10 permits are given out each year. But, like many hunting areas on Oahu, there is virtually no enforcement, administratively or otherwise in these areas. I would love for DLNR to make public their “limited” hunting areas enforcement policies and practices available to the public. I doubt any charges will be brought up for this incident, but I do know that those of us in the hunting community will suffer. I’m sure there will be talk about restricting hunting in that area and for DLNR or some other agency to manage the wildlife in that area.
